I found a used Epic 4 today in nice shape {some small scratches and dings} overall, a nice bass, it is at The Guitar Center in Oklahoma City, they had it marked for only $699 and its worth that!!! if you call on this bass, ask for Chris Winkler, he's a friend of mine and is a great guy to deal with.
the serial number is 98W11702, maybe Val can pull the build card and shed some light on the wood that was used
