But it's in excellent, original condition!

Just saw that! Besides the pickups and the tail piece blasphemy, what's up with the body shape? It doesn't look right or am I missing something?

FC Bass

At least they?ve kept the pickups local :-)

Looks like you?ll have to either deal with the screwholes, or keep the pickup rings if you want to put AXY?s in it?

Hard to see if the Bigsby is original, but I doubt it?
If you use stainless steel strings and abuse the Bigsby, I think you?ll need an open line with the mothership to keep a steady flow of brass saddles. :-)
I don?t know if the strings move much with this system, but most likely the strings will eat up the saddles in no time.
Replacing this with a tailpiece will leave some scars?

Nice bodyshape, the carvings look Alembic style so I bet that is original. Also nice star inlays  and an extra switch (Leds?)  Only one of the switches looks like the type of switch Alembic uses, could be wrong there though?
Serial number looks like 82D or 82C 21XX  (68/88?)

Maybe, just maybe, they used the original screw holes for those pickup covers. But that would be too much to hope for.

Love the wood, though not sure what that is...

So, I'm guessing this is a Distillate that's been cut down to resemble a Small Standard body?

flpete1uw

Well it looks like it was sold. I hope she is brought back to her previous glory!
Ed, I believe the older Distillates did not have the extended upper horn.
I wish this person luck the top wood is sweet!

If this instrument gets her original pickups back and a Flying Bird tail piece or a variation of such I would like it better. It would remove my initial  YIKES response .

Enzo

The older distillate had the upper horn slightly longer than the lower one, as opposed to the later version that had the horn elongated for a better balance. This bass just sold on ebay looks a one off body shape. I hope it gets restored with Alembic pickups at least.
