It is intresting that the neck pup is not as close to the neck as most are. Nice for slap/pop.
How would it sound? What some refer to as tighter maybe?

My '83 and '87 also have slightly different pickup placements, I can't say which placement I prefer... the '83 sounds better, but thats just my opinion and she's build from different materials and has another profile (overall thinner than the '87)
