i grabbed this on ebay after i recieved a second chance offer
its a westone bass circa 1980's. lbpesq helped with some research on it. may have been made by matsumoto in japan or korea. supposedly has a real nice sound and a sleek fast narrow neck-hmmm
since i sold cragston my dearmond guild starfire... was a no brainer. let you know when i get it friday

supposedly it was made for jeff pilson of dokken but when i emailed him he said he had a snakeskin guitar but didnt recall a bass,, so either they lied or hes burnt out-lol

Could be both.....slick bass!

The first 5 string I ever bought was a Westone. I bought it when they first came out. Wasn't bad for the money, I ended up donating it to my old church in Farmersville, TX.

The neck and string spacing look great!

Your Starfire showed up today!  It's great, thanks!

Now you're going to have to learn Zappa's Baby Snakes!  Congrats.   By the way, I believe the Matsumoku factory in Japan is where Daions were made too.

P.S.  I've got my A's playoff tix, so if the timing is right to pick up the Wolf or Scooter in October  .......?

I do believe you're right Bill. I have a pair of Daion Power MK II basses.

Westones weren't made to the same specs as Daions. I would also doubt that they would have come from the same production line - Matsumoku doesn't seem like a small operation.
