Pulling Alembic electronics out of a custom made Alembic bass seems completely wrong on every level - like sticking a Corvette engine in a Ferrari or an Aston Martin.  It bounces off the brain at a very strange angle.

I just recently found out this bass is at a guitar place directly across the street from my studio. Considering all of the attention it's gotten over the years here, maybe I should go check it out.

I would like to know more about the splices of white wings and any other modifications. As often as it pops up my curiosity is peaked. Still confused why anybody would do it but to each their own.

I wish it were on sale when I met Vinny Fodera at the UK bass show in London earlier this year, I could have asked him about it.

I can't recall if mica has ever commented on this bass when it has been reported on the forum.
But her view would certainly be interesting.

The original electronics + pickups are included, takes away some of the pain :-)

Mica commented here and said she's pretty sure it started its life as a Triple Omega.

Honestly, if you want a new 6-string Alembic, then buy this for the neck, as the price of the ebony lams and leds would be a good starting point.

Sell the electronics and hardware, to soften the blow further.

drjenney

Anyone know what kind of Alembic electronics it included?

The hole pattern suggests Essence electronics.

Bradley's idea is certainly interesting; buying it and sending it to Santa Rosa, and have them put new body wings on it, reinstall the pickups and electronics, and maybe upgrade the electronics.  Oh, and remove that butterfly from the peghead.

So if you were thinking about a 36 scale six string with ebony neck lams, this could be a starting point.
