That is too odd a guitar. Alembic pickups, but not an Alembic pre? A three-way toggle on Strat pickup config? It could easily be significantly improved from the current config with a little effort. Has to get a five-way switch at a minimum.

Seems like the kind of guitar you'd have to touch before plopping down the cash. The Alembic parts have value, but not enough to justify the price if the rest of the guitar isn't very right. If it is, then that could be quite the hot player's guitar. Only way to tell is to get it in your hands, peer inside the electronics cavity, and plug it in, though.

It always raises a red flag for me when I see guitars or cars that are up for sale soon after a bunch of custom work.

according to the board here, blupirst bought this guitar from kit's girlfriend, who was selling it after kit passed away. there is a pic of the cavity in this thread: http://club.alembicguitars.net/Images/393/108119.html?1310173840

it is not clear whether there were any modifications after kit's passing.

It has the alembic pre.  Guitar is all there, just need to correct the wiring.

Forgive me, but why would one have a stratoblaster if you had the Alembic preamp? I thought it was only used with passive electronics to bump the signal up?

You would have to ask kit unfortunately.  It does effectively boost the tone and would function as an on board solo boost.

You are forgiven.

Good news!  Brought the guitar over to my bass player's house(longtime alembic owner), and he fixed the problem.

After running it through his rig with a POG2 he decided he wanted to buy it.  So, its staying in the family!
