A fretless Hyak bass showed up in my Reverb feed this morning.   It was listed for $1400.00 or make offer.   It looked pretty beat and the pickup selector was changed out to a 3 way toggle.   It was really hard to tell what kind of condition it was in as there was only one picture.   And that picture looked like it was taken with a potato.  My offer was declined and now it is gone.
Did anyone here get it?

That made me laugh out loud!!

Ahhh, the potato cam. We used to joke about a home made pinhole camera called the Oatmeal-a-flex that was made out of an oatmeal package tube.

No Hyak logo on the headstock.

The bass is in really bad condition.

It seems to have been relisted and is also now listed on eBay .

"This item is sold As-Described and cannot be returned unless it arrives in a condition different from how it was described or photographed."

Oh dear. It also says Hyak-Alembic in the listing title, which is just wrong.

I'm seeing the same wording on other listings, so it may be a standard disclaimer for Reverb. But a bit of a chutzpa in this case.

I have some listings on Reverb that are being sold "as is", and noticed the disclaimer has now been added to all my listings being sold as such. Before, you would have to look into the return policy page to find that out.

So, if I understand correctly, as long as it arrives at the return destination in a condition other than how it looked when originally photographed, you're okay.

Just being optimistic here... I can't see any structural issues with the bass. It's safe to assume at that price, (and the glimpse of the now deleted picture that was posted in this thread) that its electronics are compromised at best... I don't think the price is outrageous. In fact, if I weren't facing a hospital stay and long recovery, this would be my next project. Obviously, I would try to get it cheaper.

Go for it Greg. Maybe you can write if off as 'occupational therapy' as a part of your upcoming rehab period.
