Fernandes Alembic copies on eBay - Guitar + Bass

It seems that all of these are coming out of Japan.  I think what is happening is that several different "sellers" are finding interesting instruments in Japanese music stores, taking pics, and them listing them on eBay for more than the store's price.  If it sells on eBay, the "seller" will then buy it from the store and sell it to the eBay purchaser.

If it isn't a bunch of people working to sell the same/a similar instrument(s), would people just download the images from one auction and then run a scam from outside the US?  I remember this was somewhat of a concern ten plus years ago, but I wonder if it is still as easy today on eBay or with modern payment services.

I owned one, and it was a very good bass. Paid 700 for it  (Eu) It sounded very close to a series 1. Loved it, but it always felt like having a copy in your hand. And as I am an Alembic fan, I sold it to a guy in Ireland and bought the real thing again.. ;0

I'm not sure.....Really?  The guy SELLS Alembics!  There is never a mention of a serial #.....  He can't find / post the S/N?
