Their regular return policy is great (45 days?) but on anything listed as 'vintage' I think you get 3 days to decide. Still a great deal, and their shipping (usually UPS) is super cheap. I have had only 1 or 2 bad experiences with them over the years and both were put right by my local GC store.

However, 'Fair' can mean anything by them. I wonder if the Elan had a neck repair? It looks like their might be a line at the back of the neck. Someone should call the store.

I don't think it has any serious issues. I'll update in a few days when she arrives.
My in-laws live very close to that GC. Like 10 minutes away. I almost called my brother-in-law to ask if he'd go take a look in person. but...
Given their return policy, I just pulled the trigger.

The bass arrived and it's in great shape overall.
Some worming on the back. Nothing much and all in all great shape for an 88!
Plays great and sounds wonderful. Now to clean her up, new strings and setup.
Nice and light too! Can be more than 9lbs. Will post pictures after clean up.

I did not post anything for sale. I am discussing a bass I bought. There was interest and speculation on the general condition of the bass. I said I would update once it arrived. It is relevant to the thread and other members are curious.

The reply does seem relevant. But since you aren't known for keeping instruments, this one will likely be offered for sale, so your report on condition is walking a thin line on commercial posts by non-dealers, thank you for being respectful of it here.
