I spotted this on talk bass for sale again. I think this one has been on sale a few times in recent years and seems unable to find a more permanent  home.

I owned this bass for 10 years, found her on Craigslist in L.A. when I lived out west.  I sold to a club member who immediately sold to another club member for more $$. I would assume life circumstances are making this new gentleman sell, I spoke to the guy selling this bass, he was super happy with it not sure what is up...anyway wish I had the cash to get "Dolly" back..

Just to add, the club member with this 'grapeburst' Elan also had a 'wineburst' Elan a while back. (slightly different finish tint before it's wine ya' know...)  ;D  From the text of the ad, it does sound like he's got some unfortunate circumstances forcing the sale.   :(

I am psyched to hear that you're keeping the bass.  That's great.  Cheers!

I love the sound of alembics with the neck pickup real close to the end of the fretboard. At least from the basses I have, they seem to have a warmer fuller bottom end.
Good news that you have decided to hold on to that bass.

Thanks, I do think I would have had install seller's remorse if I had sold this bass.
Yes, it definitely has more bottom end with the neck pickup so close to the neck. It definitely has more bottom end than the '95 Elan 5 Wineburst I previously owned.  While I am trying to downsize a bit and sell off some gear, this one isn't going anywhere...

Mr. Bill

Glad you`re keeping it, my wife would throw me out of the house if I bought another bass.  I own the wineburst one that you guys were talking about, its an amazing player and it sounds fantastic.

Haha, I hear you there. Very cool that you ended up with the Elan 5 Wineburst. Great bass.
