The question is...what did he replace then with? I just can't conceive of dropping the cash for a Mark King Bass and then replacing the PUs with something non-Alembic. A good buy, however, for someone who wants to do the opposite.

That would be my guess. I bought a Fatboy from Alembic a few years back and didn't end up keeping it on the bass as it didn't sound as hifi as the standard AXY's I plan too try them again sometime when I get a chance to do more 4 string gigs.
