25 grand?  I guess it's his choice to sell it for what he wants, but a brand new one would probably cost less from a dealer.

I knew I remembered this from somewhere . . . .

I get sad when I think of people parting ways with instruments that obviously are special to them. I rememeber this Featured Custom from when I first joined the Club. Such a wonderful story.

Jonathan , yes __ I have empathy for such situations , as I have been there as well . It was difficult to let go of this one during financially struggling times for me in the late 1970's

Oh my goodness . . .  the backside of Starry Night from the featured custom link is incredible!!!!

Wolf, regards to your loss so many years ago. I had a similar situation and had to part with a zebra wood Exploiter. It was no match to my Distillate in the electronics area, but none the less, letting her go was regretful. I still look for her and wonder if she would want me back . . .

sonicus

Paul . I don't know if my old Starfire would want me back because she freaked out a few times and went into oscillation in  high  pass mode on stage after which I would ask George to give her  some guidance .  She ran away sometime after that when I ran out of money . I know where she is hiding and I was told that George had to visit her again ____for guidance !  That was quite some time ago ____ LOL !!!  I still miss her though ____

Sadly, the original owner of the Starry Night bass passed away.

sonicus

Mica , I am so sorry to read that . I send my condolences to the family and loved ones.

hammer

Condolences to family and friends. Dave got to enjoy his bass and life for far too short a period of time

It's too bad that whomever is selling this wonderful bass went the route they did. I would think that, like most of us, the original owner would want his bass to be cared for and played by someone who knows and appreciates the Alembic name, quality, and family. At  this price it is probably going to sit unused for a long time.

This has definitely led me to start thinking about putting in writing exactly how I'd like to have my basses redistributed when I pass (though I hope that's not for many years). Step 1: list the basses for a reasonable price on the topics board.

zomnius

That is sad indeed. Beautiful bass.
