I really like that angle.  But she wouldn't play it because it doesn't have enough strings.  She plays a five string and won't touch anything that has less than five strings.

I like David's angle too.  Just wish I knew how much that Christmas Bonus is going to actually be.

Well I hope you are able to make it happen Doc, either you or David or at least a club member. These instruments need to be played not hung on a wall.

alembic_doctor

He David.  Does it really match your VIII string or are you just yankin' my chain?

If I can figure out the technical side, look at this:  http://club.alembicguitars.net/Images/395/31452.html?1159764584

Hey, I have my share.  I'll yield to others who don't have theirs, or guys like you or TK who have helped me get my share.  BUT, if none of them is interested, I'm in.

I should know by tomorrow if I can pull this off or not.  With all that ornate work though, I have a feeling it might go high.

If it were a small body, I would be in the running.  Very sweet indeed.  How 'bout that power supply!!

harald_rost

What a great kind of vintage Alembic!
It it wasn't a frettless and the seller would also ship international I would jump on.

Looking closely, it's either been back to the factory for upgrades, or someone else worked on it.  The adjustable nut wasn't around back in '74.  Also there appears to be some type of string guide posts added to the headstock.  This is a pretty cool mod, IMHO that deals with one common characterisic of some early Alembics - the tuning machines were spaced in a manner that resulted in the strings touching each other after they went over the nut, on the way to the tuners.  (My '76 Series 1 guitar has this).  The brass thumbrest on the corner of the bridge pickup is tres cool!

I was thinking the same thing. This bass has a whole lot of cool. Definitely a distinct instrument.

Wow....

Very nice looking wood.
The backplates are absolutely amazing. And how about that bridge/sustain block...

Does anyone know anything about the pictures on the back plates?

Lovely bass.

It's killin me.  But I can't do it.  If I bought it, my son would have to grow up without a father.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH......

MAn I hope it turns up again.

flaxattack

you guys are lucky its a 4 string
i;d be all over this like a bad cold if it were a 5

hieronymous

Only 2 hours left! Tempting, but I'm going to pass. Got my eye on something else (non-Alembic)...

dwmark

I'm probably in.  I have a price in mind that the market may top, though.  But, that's what auctions are for.

alembic_doctor

Go DW GO.  Do it.  And then let me know when you're ready to have another person take care of it.
