Wonder why that link didn't underline all the way... still works though!

If you search for the item #, the link comes up nice and short:

Is this priced about twice the market value or am I missing some added value w/ the  long scales?

Aaron,
Here's a formatting trick (from the header 1 page back)

To add a link to message, try and remember to use this formatting convention:

Within the curly braces, place the URL of the website you want to share followed by a comma and the word or phrase other Club members will click on to bring them there. Using long URLs makes the pages scroll off to the right.

Pretty sure the seller is this guy:

He's had the bass since the late '90s at that price, and from the one conversation I had with him, I'm surprised he's willing to let it go for only $7500.

llobsterbass

Why does he expect to get $7,500? It's a nice looking instrument but I saw nothing in the listing to justify this price. Series 1 basses from this era are going for $3,500-$4k these days, from what I've seen.

danny_bryant

I have actually talked on the phone to this guy about that bass. No Alembic is overpriced but that is a little extreme. I think Sherriff is right about the going price on this era of bass.

kungfusheriff

To clarify, I was being sarcastic...for the last decade this bass has failed to sell at $9500, and I was mocking the seller for knocking a whole $2000 off that grossly inflated price. Another $2000 less and he might have a shot, but $7500 is absurd.

Actually, his opening bid is roughly what I've spent on the five used Alembics I've owned, including the three Series basses I have now.

I have actually tried this one out, since I live in Baltimore.  The guy will sit on things forever until he gets his price.  It looks better in the pictures than it does in person.

Re listed with a BIN of $5,999.00

sonicus

It appears that no one purchased it ! Perhaps  the price will come down even lower if and when it is re- listed .
