Here's mine! I've been concentrating on 6 strings for a while but before that I was a bassist. Never dreamed I'd actually own an Alembic, such is their almost mythical quality - and I am impressed, REALLY impressed! These are the pics from eBay. I will take more but these are pretty good. Big thank you to  Richard F, the seller. What do you think the body is made of? Happy playing, all!  Jas

Nice bass John. The body is almost certainly mahogany. I'd say the top is a very dark piece of coco-bolo. You'll probably find there's an extemely thin walnut veneer between the fingerboard and the neck which used to be installed to aid fingerboard replacement. In case you hadn't seen it, there's a page on the main website dedicated to the company's history.

You will love it, enjoy!

Very nice- I'd say Graeme is spot on with his guess of Mahogany and Coco Bolo.  I really like the top wood right on the body wood without the pinstripe laminate.

Given the amount of darkening, and the fairly straight grain, I'd guess it's a vermillion top. Nice one, whatever the top wood!

Hi Jas,

Congratulations with the Persuader - very clean! Looks almost identical to my 87 Persuader (check it out here in the showcase!)so I would hazard a guess that the top is in fact Bocate just like mine!

Best wishes,
             John.

Hey Jas,
Welcome to the club! Nice Bass. The top looks like CocoBolo to me. I have a similar dark coco top on my Modulus Graphite bass. You can determine exactly what it is by posting the serial number in
Owning an Alembic / Serial number Requests
here in the club!
Happy playing!

John, Kris,
Many thanks! John's Persuader does look gorgeous, but I think my wood top is darker. Hard to tell.
Kris, I've posted a request for data in the serial section.
This is a bit like genealogy. However, as you both know, playing it is the greatest pleasure...

Awesome!
