I just purchased this bass on ebay and I am wondering if anyone here in the club can help me identify the wood it is made of. I have included th link to the auction. I suspect that it is rosewood but I am wondering what type. Any help wood, I mean would be greatly appreciated. I know we have some real wood buffs here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3728431344&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Does it look anything like this?  If so it could be ovangkol.

It could even be Walnut. I'm not a wood expert, but Fender offered a Walnut Strat and P-bass around '82 that could have been the inspiration for this Schecter. Just my $0.02.

Rosewood maybe? I sure love the look of it!

edit: I really hadn't seen you suggesting rosewood in your post, but maybe that's a good sign. I sure looks like rosewood to me, and what an excellent deal you've got there! Congratulations!

I'm leaning more towards it being Walnut.  I know that Walnut was more commonly available as a body wood by companies that made replacement Fender style necks and bodies at that time.

Guys,
as this is a Schecter bass I think it is rosewood.
Schecter had many rosewoods parts/guitars in the eighties....

I've never heard of a solid Rosewood body.  I've only seen it on fingerboards, and occasionaly (rarely) as a body top.  Besides, this looks a little light to be Rosewood, which I think is typically darker.
