I've never been a big fan of the T-Bird until this baby came along.  She's just too cool.  Her only control is an ON/OFF switch.
She's Nikki Sixx's creation.

One of the coolest Basses I've ever seen.

Rami; your six string Alembics have the comfort taper?

dannobasso

I hear Nikki is working with Hamer again.
My black tbird will be going out again with Danzig this fall.
But alas I will not be wielding it.

To be honest Dave, I don't remember.  But the neck is super slim for a 6.  In fact it feels more like a 5.

The Gibson Blackbird just looks like a hardcore Rock 'n' Roll Bass.  Even with no controls other than the ON/OFF switch, it has a HUGE sound.
It's a real collectors item, it was only produced in 2002.

Dave,

My guess is that they are-- but they don't quite look it, since they are 36 scale.

David Houck

I had forgotten they were 36; thanks!

So is the volume permanantly set to 11? Or did Nikki and Gibson  work out a way to get it to 12?

dannobasso

Well, he uses Basson amps so the volume is likely equal to the weight of the cabinet.

so much for neo drivers where Nikki is concerned.

I recently tried the Epiphone version.

Gibson REALLY wants you to know that you're getting a cheap copy of the original.

Next to the Gibson version, there's no comparison.

As the very happy owner of an Epiphone Sheritan, I would say that, while their propriatory models - Sheraton, Casino, Emperor, Wildkat, etc - are wonderful instruments, especially for the price, their copies of Gibson models are just that, and to be avoided like a Hondo.

Danno,

I suspect that those specs are along the lines of:

lies...specifications...bass cabinet specifications.

I have heard that they make a loud cabinet though.
