Looks like a wonderful place for a walk!

From a friend, and former coworker... her Thursday route goes by Smith Mountain Lake, in Bedford Co. Sometimes we trade pictures of scenery (or sadness) on our daily rounds. Our trucks and our jobs are almost identical.

Last weekend I went back to Ohio for my dad's 90th b-day party & a niece's wedding.  If these come out right, the fist is another niece's back yard, then my big brother's back yard followed by the front.  The next one isn't exactly scenery; the road my dad grew up on was named in honor of his parents.  This is me, my dad Rudy, my son David, and my grandson Rudy at the sign.  Last is the remains of my grandparents' barn.

Nice!  Rural Ohio farmland.

I bet that barn is fulla' bumber-jackets.  ;D

(not quite as bad as murder-hornets or killer-bees... but will ruin a good afternoon hidin' place just the same)

Can't remember if I posted this one here or somewhere else. Another scenic gift from the Wednesday Route through Franklin County. These two old silos are at the entrance to Summit Ridge Industrial complex. So far, nothing much there but a water storage tank that I check once a week. I can't figure out what the crop is they're growing. It ain't feed corn or soybeans. Not tobacco either. Alfalfa?

I should post a picture. Or ask my favorite agronomist. She'll tell me after acting annoyed I didn't know. I know other things though. Like stay outta' barns fulla' bumber-jackets. Won't matter.

When I was in my late teens, Grandma asked to fix a roof leak on the back part (already fallen down; on the right in the pic).  I stepped out of the hay mow into the loft over that part - and right on a yellow jacket nest.  In the time it took me to jump - not climb - down & run to the house, I was stung 19 times.
That was the beginning of my sting allergy.

Oh, i should remark on the roadsign pic; in the early '70s, a cousin & I were spending a couple weeks with Grandma.  I had a bushel or so of black walnuts that had sprouted, so he & I planted about 150 trees on one of the fields.  I believe you can see some of them in the background.

8)  very  8)

Especially on the heels of the county department cutting down two young oaks that we were nursing (one was over 4" in diameter).   The two trees were 30' off the center line of the county road... "they" have 'rights' to 33' off the center line.   My wife and I were deeply hurt by this action, as if it wasn't enough - they didn't do any trimming to the property north of us.   :'(

So long story short - Thanks Peter for planting trees, majestic trees, thank you.

There's not a road in this valley I haven't run, usually with a carload of gear, on the way to/from a gig. Yesterday evening though, I sat still and watched the hazy sunset on Windy Gap with an old friend. Pandemics and other Crazy Stuff has kept us apart for two years. Then, just like peas & carrots...

Nice!  It's great to be able to see old friends again!

Yes; it is!

Waited for this Sunday morning, with coffee, and a guitar in hand.
