That's beautiful, Rob; where is it?

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

From a barn in the city (Garfield Park, Chicago) to a troll in the suburbs (Morton Arboretum, Lisle, IL).  :)

My friend and emissary , " Lucie" the Crow , enjoys dining on her upside-down cymbal & perch that I built for her . She is a FREE -BIRD that has been hanging out with me for over a year or so . She  occasionally invites all of her friends of about a score or so of Crows .They are all brilliantly intelligent .I love them , therefore I provide them with daily food and water .

If I could go on a tangent... Wolf, have you ever known these birds to become fascinated with odd objects as playthings? A few years ago, we had a troupe of five that took up residence here around our building/parking lot. Simultaneously, a seemingly random, but daily occurrence of vandalism began happening to our vehicles. It was finally discovered, one, and just one of the crows had a thing for the rubber wiper-blades on our vehicles. He/She would perch on the hood, and yank each end of each windshield wiper until the bead was pulled off. Often they'd be left on the hood, or dangling. Sometimes ten cars a day were hit. Sometimes several days in a row. It took a long time, and finally some sharp eyes on surveillance cameras to figure out it was a BIRD! The only thing we could figure was, it was fun for the Crow... and bonus money for the auto parts stores. Finally, they moved on. I've got a picture somewhere...

Gregory ,
I have indeed heard of various stories as you describe . Last year one of the adolescent Crows was curious about the wipers on my old 1971 pickup truck  . You may be successful in establishing a relationship with the Crows by offering them roasted unsalted peanuts in the shell and putting out a shallow dishpan of clean water . As well , they like Cat Kibble ! If you make friends with them they are prone to make deals with you ,but you have to offer gratuities to earn their trust , and thus ,  their reciprocal deeds may include protection from the delinquent activities of their adolescent community . :)
