Wow. Hard to believe he was still alive, let alone take in the fact that he's dead. What a great voice he was.

101 years old!  Can't complain.  He was right there at the very beginning of the entire S.F. scene.  You can draw a direct line from City Lights Bookstore to the Beats, the Hippies, the Grateful Dead, and our own beloved instruments.
