I'm trying a different approach these days:  

  No amp!!!  I run the Boss ME-50B into the SansAmp Bass Driver and run direct.  I get my stage volume via the side fills. Theoretically, I hear what the audience hears.

Seriously, though, I would be curious to hear what that rig sounded like with the speakers stacked more vertically, especially the subs. I bet the dispersion would be much better controlled. Nice rig!

there's a Krammer DMZ 6000 and the bc looking bass is a 1980 Krammer XL8 8 string, both are VERY LOUD basses, and sound like electric butter thru the 73 ampeg b 15 or the 79 Fender studio bass

However I've decided that it's getting too complicated running 2 pre-amps so I'm thinking of ditching the amps and buying the new EBS TD660 to replace them and simplify things a bit.

Boy, everybody's rigs look so squeaky clean! Here's mine in all its road worn glory. F2B, SF2, Eventide Eclipse, Crown XTi4000 and fEARful 15/6/1. Hopefully in the next week or so, I'll be adding a fEARful 12/6/1, what with some outdoor gigs coming up.

Hi jazzy - longish story...
I was running an Eden navigator preamp and had one 212 and a 410 but I was struggling to get to grips with the navigator - too many knobs - so I replaced it with the Fender TBP1. This pre gives a really nice round PHAT bottom end but the top end always sounded a bit harsh to me. Round about 18 months ago we started playing Muse's Hysteria which has a pretty distorted bass line that I had no end of trouble replicating - tried all sorts of pedals - Big Muff, danelectro and so on. On a whim i tried out a mate's Ampeg SVP and found that turning the overdrive past around 7 gave the perfect tone. However, the ampeg didn't give the nice bottom end I liked so I kept the fender and split the input signal with a silverblade HX3 from thomann. This worked fine with the old Cabinet configuration, putting the ampeg through the 410. Around a year ago I decided that it was alot easier to lift a 212 cab so I bought a second 212 to replace the 410 (still have it for my practice room though).
 
So, that brings us up to around 3 weeks ago. playing a gig recently I was intermittently losing signal from the fender which turned out to be just a loose cable from the pre to the power. Then last saturday, the power amp overheating protection kicked in for a moment and switched the amp off to cool down. It restarted immediately but left me without sound for around 10 seconds which is a lifetime to a bass player ;-)  So.... last night I started fiddling around removing each preamp in turn and I've decided that I really like the fender tone through the 212's - maybe it was the 410 that was causing the harshness -  so I'm going to try some gigs without the ampeg. We don't play Hysteria that often so I figure It's better to have a simpler setup and just get a slight overdriven sound with my EBS multidrive pedal.
Hopefully the new setup will work out. If not, I've got my eye on the new EBS TD660 head. It's an upgrade to the TD650 with the benefit of having footswitchable muting, drive and effects.  
 
And Edwin - You can't see it in the pics but the EBS cabs are carpet covered and I have a Cat. They're pretty raggedy round the edges ;-)

Ok, I'll play. At 45 and a broken neck, back, both feet crushed (1 re-built) and electrocution to my tally, I sold my Mesa fridge RR 1516BE/2-15 set-up and went back to a RR 1-15/2-10 set with my Mesa 400+. The Goddess smiled on me and delivered a Mesa RR 4-10 with stock Eden speakers, serious old school mojo. I run the 400+ with a Aphex 204 and Behringer model MDX 1200 and a Furman M-8D clearing the way. So, cabinet wise, I have the RR version of jazzyvee's rig and I too have yet to need them all for a single gig. It is nice to be able to taylor your set-up to the room you're in. I have the Mesa Venture as my practice/small gig amp. I found the 2-10 version to be better all around than her 2-12 sister. And batting clean-up, from Santa Rosa, California...my Alembic Elan+ 4.
