I recently (ho-ho-ho) picked up a 2002 Ric 4003, and while lowering the action, the saddle screws are protruding and catch on the base plate causing the bridge to sit at an angle.  Does these screws look correct?

Thanks, T

I've got a 73' 4001. Does not stick out like that. Just so happens I saw this on e-bay.

Hard to tell. Maybe if this can be enlarged?? NLP

Thanks guys.  I acutally took a dremel to it and was able to get enough countersync to get it to fit a bit better without stripping it.  It's still tight, but it fits.  Action is much better.  It's also for sale at a local consignment shop.  I have an '83 on the way.  The neck is just too big on these newer ones, though I heard (not confirmed) the thin neck came back in 2006 and is on the C models.  The shop I took it to actually had a Chris Squire model there they were working on; very nice bass.

I want an Alemb-ric too! Exact same thin body with the crown headstock, yum!  I'm sure Mr. Hall would have a fit!   lol

Glad it worked out. My 73' 4001 neck is thin and flat for the most part. The action could actually be set lower if I changed the bridge p/u surround (not notched out like the newer models).  Good luck.   NLP
