We've discussed these in the past, but it's been a while.  So, what reverb unit are you using, if you do?  What others have you used and what are the differences in sound, functionality, ease of use, etc.?
 
I've had an Alesis Midiverb in my rack for a while now and it does work well.  I get a nice sound which I tweak every once in a while.  I don't use a factory preset, but have dialed in a custom set of parameters.  Once you've dialed in a setup, and you're used to the interface, it's fairly easy to make quick adjustments.  But the pushbuttons are not as user friendly as knobs would be.

I've used an Alesis Microverb in the past but am much happier now with a TSR3 (HDB Audio).  Now that I have a (mostly) tube rig I have little desire to put anything digital into the chain.  The TSR3 is a tube driven triple spring reverb.  Pretty good quality but I'm not sure if they're still available, probably on ebay.

I'm thinking about the TC Electronic M-One XL.  Does anyone have an opinion on this unit for bass?  Would it be an appreciable upgrade over my Alesis Midiverb III?

I have a TC Electronics SCF. It is, without question, the nicest most liquid sound chorus that I have ever heard. I also have an EBS chorus which doesn't come close.

Thanks David; the reviews I read at Harmony Central show that the TC Electronic reverbs are highly regarded.

I have a TC Electronics M-One for my recording rack. A very nice unit. In my bass rack I have a Lexicon, uh..., the cheap one. I've taken it out of the loop but not out of the rack yet.

JP; if you've taken the Lexicon out of the loop, what are you using for reverb in your bass rack?  Have you tried the M-One in the bass rig?

Okay, I sat down with my reverb units over the weekend and this is how things sounded to me:  
 
The Midi-Verb, while fairly simple to use, seemed to be the least ?musical? of the three.   It sounded to me as though it was lacking head room.  It has an almost metallic sound to it.  
 
The Yamaha Rev500 (it isn?t a Rev100 as earlier stated) was simple to dial in and has surprising warmth and depth for a digital unit.  
To me, it sounded closer to analog than the Midi-Verb.  
 
The Demeter RV-1 to my ear is hands down the richest sounding of these three. It is very user friendly, it's the easiest to dial in of the three. Through my bass rig it added amazingly luscious sounds.  It produces very silky, very resonant overtones.  I really love it. In fact, I like it so much that I?m considering buying a second one for the rig.  And just when I thought I was through spending for a while??.

I'm leaning toward the TC unit; but your review sure makes the Demeter inviting!  Now I probably won't be able to make a decision at all!

I think the TC unit looks good as well. I admit, there just may be a tad too much of the purist in me....

This won't clear up anything but....
 
I'm no longer using reverb in my bass rig as the bottom of the line Lexicon was adding too much noise for my liking.  
 
I haven't taken the TC out of the recording rig and when recording I always seem to be using it for vocals or something.

I have a TC M-One-XL..excellent unit,very quiet, highly recommended. I originally picked it up to use with synths/recording, but I've recently been messing around with it in the effects loop of my Mesa. I mostly use it for chorusing, delay, and tremolo effects. I really havent tried the reverbs on bass yet, but the sound is excellent on vocals,strings,guitar,etc, so I see no reason why they shouldnt sound great with bass too.    
I also have a Midi-Verb, although thats also a nice unit, the TC blows it away. The only other reverb I can personally compare it to is an old Furman 2 channel spring unit,it has a nice drippy/boingyness to it,but thats of limited use.
Do check one out if you can,I think you'll be impressed,not only are the reverbs nice,but the chorusing is about the best I've heard.

I did make a decision and purchased a TC M-One XL off Ebay yesterday.  I should have it sometime early next week.  The Demeter was tempting, but it's a lot more money and the M-One seemed a safer bet.  Perhaps sometime in the future I'll be able to try the Demeter.
