Some extremely great, jaw-droppingly clean bass playing by a young Stanley Clarke playing his first Alembic which was stolen. Notice the very early tailpiece, front battery cover, PF6 circuit, and I believe those strings are pre-Rotosound.

Indeed he was!  I seem to recall that bass was 74-sixty-something. It was the first Alembic listed in the "Stolen List". If it ever resurfaced I never heard. I had plans for a medium-scale guitar based largely on that very bass.

What a great performance.  Thanks for that treat.

Too bad Stanley only owned that bass for a short period. He really showed his power in this performance, and also his talent as a pocket player and a team player. I got to play his next bass, the Brown Bass, at his house in 1979.

Wow so cool! Love the look of those brown pick up covers of the very early alembics.

I'm still a huge RTF and their music is all my music playing devices and it's a hard to know whether i've listened to RTF more than the Wailers overall. But easily the most listened to jazz band even though there are some great bands around.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

To coin a phrase "When Fusion monsters roamed the Earth".

Wow. Then wow, then wow some more.

Those guys are bonkers.
Just when I was feeling good about my playing last night, I watch that.

Very much humbled to the point of depression.
Will be calling my bass therapist.

Thanks for posting? LOL
