Anybody know anything about Patterson Basses?  I ran into one at MusicGoRound today and I was impressed.
 
The neck was flame maple - walnut pinstripe - purpleheart - walnut pinstripe - wenge (repeat), walnut body, ebony accent stripe, bubinga top, continuous wood backplane.  Rosewood fingerboard.
 
Not an Alembic, but one of the nicer $700 basses I've played (inc hsc).
 
I can't find out anything about the company.  The website is not informative, and seems to indicate they are located in Nashville.  The store clerk thought they were in St. Paul.
