Hmmmm, I wonder if this thread has anything to do with the fact that we ended yesterday's jam with Birdsong?

Bill ,   That is an interesting possibility. Perhaps a subliminal phenomenon within my own inner-sanctum.  Or simply speaking ; I am really just a  Bird Brain  .I am actually quite fascinated about acclimating with and becoming friends with animals in the wild , and having them become close and interacting.

I have found Alembic Relevance ; in a Tribute to the Flying Bird Tail  Piece

I find the crows around us fascinating. I always take pause when I hear them - knowing that there is a reason for their communication.  It is really fascinating when they collect in a murder and then they really start chatting it up!

That is so cool Wolf! I would be scared to death to do it, but it looks like fun!

Paul , I think they are really intelligent  . My neighbor has some really huge Redwood trees and I have some very large old huge Juniper trees. Every day the Crows show up and hang out . I have made friends with them . I also have a Raven family  that hangs out and they are quite special friends as well . Once in a while mass quantities of Robins show up and eat the Juniper berries on my trees and get inebriated from them !

In Vancouver, the crows all go east at night to a roost in nearby Burnaby; at it's height, they'res 2000 crows flying over east van, probably more...it's quite a sight that kinda freaks people out the first time they see it...there is a Raven family in my 'hood which is very cool, as Ravens don't usually hang out in Vancouver itself...
I dig crows and Ravens too, especially Ravens as they are both really smart; crows can be really ruthless though...there's probably video of the crow flight out there...Tony

Tony , The Crow gathering  probably has quite a sound with that many Crows .  The little  Murder  in my trees has about 20 to 30 or so members. The Ravens are smaller  in number and larger in size and have their own tree. They are a less vocal more discreet and quite dignified in their persona.  They fly down for a meet and greet from time to time, as does a  little Green Humming Bird as well .

Wolf,
No harm in being flighty.

Observing nature is very grounding, and birds are easy as they are almost everywhere.  One year my wife and I were planting garlic in autumn at our local community garden when we both stopped and were in awe of a starling murmuration that occurred all around and above us. Even our three dogs were silent and observing. It was one of those moments that allowing yourself to be in the moment was rewarding beyond words.

Here is a relatively famous murmuration video of a very large group: https://youtube.com/watch?v=iRNqhi2ka9k

Pete . Thanks for sharing that article with us . I can relate; I too have received gifts from these clever and mysterious feathered friends .
