Lou Reed was 71.  He had a very significant influence on our music and our culture.

Reed was a founding member of the Velvet Underground; and you can see him here in this .

Sad news. Rock N Roll Animal is one of my all time favorite albums!

The negative reviews of Lulu must have done him in.....

(((((((((( RIP LOU ))))))))))

but in all seriousness, IIRC, when I lost my virginity White Light White Heat was playing in the background...... and, the Live 1969 album kicks ass, even though half the original band was gone...

VU was, of course, trailblazing (The first Velvet Underground album sold something like 30,000 copies in the first five years - and I think every one of those 30,000 people started a band. Brian Eno), and I liked his solo stuff from the '90s too - but let's not forget his Oscar-worthy performance as the jive-ass pop producer in One-Trick Pony!
You will be missed, Mr. Reed.

Thanks for posting that Lulu video; I guess I just went with the reviews and never heard the album...the video was a cool song, I think I'll have  to look into it...wow, no more Lou...

I listened to 'junior dad' again and it SO sounds like PELICAN; which is cool as they are awesome...I
wonder if Metallica listen to Pelican?
My most amazing concert moment was at a Lou Reed show here in Van. part of his band was a soul singer named little jimmy reed; anyway, awesome show but they finished the encore with the most amazing version of Satellite of love with jimmie's soaring vocals...beyond amazing...anyway, after the standing ovation everyone knew there was no way to top that so everyone just got up to leave, and they were ALL humming or singing Satellite of love! all the way outside, me included...magic.
