Thanks, Dave. I was so excited about the possibility of having a stamp to commemerate the life of Jerry that I didn't read the petition. Oh well, I guess ultimately it's the thought that counts, but Jerry deserves the best shot at (stamp) immortality possible. I hope regardless that this all comes to fruition.

Kevin; you are of course right, it is the thought that counts.  I think I may have had too much coffee and got a bit carried away.

Dave:

The real way to petition the current U.S. government is with large piles of small pieces of paper with picures of presidents on them - preferably handed through the back door of a ranch in Texas.  Are my politics showing?

Bill, tgo

Bill; yes you're showing a little .  And to officially hi-jack this thread, I would like to mention that in my personal opinion, the continued harmony among Alembic owners the world over on this board is best insured by maintaining a politics and religion free zone.  That said, a Coltrane stamp would be nice too!!

Well, geez, I don't know why a stamp's such a big deal . . . after all, EVERY Post Office has a Dead Letter Department . . .

As a further hijack, there's a nice feature in the current Rolling Stone about the formation of the Dead on their 40th anniversary that's worth reading (although, I don't know about the rest of it though...the White Stripes are on the cover, LOL!)
