I have an old Reunion Blues strap I've had on my SI for the last 30yrs. Since my birthday is coming up I told my wife she could get me a new strap, but she said that's something personal and for me to pick out one and buy it. How many have purchased the Alembic straps?.. Especially the rosewood leather..... I notice that it is out of stock. I like wide straps so maybe the black one ....or maybe the amber one ..........

Howierd:

The Alembic straps are made by Moody Leather.  If Alembic is out of a particular style or color, I believe you can order direct from Allison at Moody.  She's licensed to do the Alembic logo on the strap.  She makes about the best straps around, certainly as good as any other I've seen.  Tell her the Alembic Club sent you.

Moody straps are GREAT. I have two of the 4 models.

Anyone tried the wooden straps?

I'm curious about these straps but because they are wood, i wonder if they would dig in with the weight of a guitar?

Any experience with them?

Jazzy, I don't know anything about them wooden straps but a couple of the bass players in their hall of fame get two thumbs up!  Yowsers.

An aside, interesting how many country guys (and gals!) are playing the 5 str these days.

I ordered the Amber Strap. Should be here by my birthday..... maybe..

I tried a wide heartwoode strap with my MK and glad I did before I bought...that thing slid around all over the place.

Conversely, I'm very happy with my wide Alembic/Moody's strap - very comfortable & it doesn't slide at all.

Howard...you should have run it by me...I'd have been happy to let you take mine for a test run... ;)

Yeah, I can see where it would slide, Paul - but was it as painful as it looks?

I tried the widest one they had - probably 4 at the apex - and would have to say it was not the most comfortable strap I ever tried.

I have about a Dozen straps, wide, narrow and in between and the most comfortable strap I have is my Alembic strap. It happens to be the rosewood. $150 bucks sounds like a lot of money for a strap but well worth every penny to save my shoulder.

Thanks Paul,
I haven't tried out or bought a strap in over 30 years. I guess it's about time. Even though there's nothing wrong with my strap other than the ink that was accidentally sprayed on it, but thats another story.
