Sorry to hear of your vocational loss but. look at the brighter side in that you will have extra time to devote to academic music studies with that beautiful ALEMBIC fretless of yours. Jobs come and go so the moment for you do shine as an awesome individual person and Bass Player is NOW !  You will get by OK !!!!!!!

Slawie,

I've been a labour and employment lawyer for 20+ years now, and one thing I have learned over time in this career - much of which is dealing with the negative fallout of job loss, from the employee side - is that the cliche about these things being new opportunities is often true.  I have seen many, many people lose a job only to find that another door opens for them.  Just keep looking forward.  Keep us all informed as you do, and we'll all keep sending positive vibes your way.

Got laid off from a crappy job in '02.  Went back to college.  No one wants to hire an old fart, so now I'm unemployed with a graduate degree.  Hang in there, bros.

That was a professional send off - good for you.
Thus far I have been saved from the hatchet that has struck so many these days. However 6 years ago I was let go from a job that I had for 19.5 years.

It is a difficult thing to go through - but the old saying is true when one door closes another one opens best of luck finding your passion to persue.

Good luck to you guys.  Its that time of year when my company does their layoffs also, so Im a little nervous. Ive been there 12 years, and have been through about 4 layoffs.

I work for a motorcycle riding training company. Since we started in 1990 we were amazed at the growth we enjoyed, and all with almost no advertising. We wondered for years when the demand would top out; it seemed there was no end in sight. Well, we found it this year. Business is down for the first time. It seems the depressed economy has finally found its way to our little corner of the world. Many of our instructors took a big hit on income this year, myself included. We are a tad nervous about what next year will hold for us. It's belt-tightening time.
