Hey All,

Ive been thinking for a long time that Id like to be able to have some type of overdrive for my bass.  I generally prefer a very clean sound, but there are times where I wish I had some crunch available.  Any suggestions for a pedal?  Is anyone here familiar with the Demeter overdrive pedals (overdrive or fuzzulator) ?  I have a Demeter preamp already, so am pretty fond of their products...

My prize for most rich-sounding bass distortion:  ElectoHarmonix Big Muff.  Complex, huge sound, IMO.

which big muff? Pi, little, or distortion/sustainer?

jubeas3eyes

pi for sure, the russion version. Another distortion that I love is the ratman distortion. Unfortunately they're extremely rare.

Yeah, man, Pi if you can get it...the Russian one can be hard to come by.  A guitarist friend of mine obtained one and refused to sell it to me, even with numerous bribes, so I got the USA model.  Still washes the block in a flood of distorted glory!

If you're not already familiar, listen to Anesthesia: Pulling Teeth from Metallica's Kill 'Em All album...C.Burton used a Big Muff through that whole performance.

I'm using the ebs multidrive. There are sound clips on their website. I find it's pretty easy to get just about any kind of distortion I need.

I recommend the FullTone BassDrive.  It's about as close as I've heard to a cranked SVT, and you don't  have to hassle with tubes!

Get a RAT... the Vintage one, not the Rat 2 or the Turbo Rat or whatever.  The orginal designed RAT, I think, sounds great with bass - good cutting distortion with intact low end.  No fuzz, just biting, aggressive, Geddy Lee-type distortion in spades...

Try a UK Colorsound Tonebender, dirty fuzz sound, very retro, very 60's

thanks guys....while on the EBS site, I found this...

looks pretty interesting..anyone try it yet?

jacko

I'd like to but it's pretty expensive. Mike Pisanek bought one from a US seller but it came with the wrong power supply and he sold it on before he had a chance to try it out.
