Does it seem to anyone else that there is an increased police presence in many places ?

These days I often see a good half dozen cops throughout the course of the day when I am out and about.  Even in the rural community I live in I often see 2-3 staties running about.

Let's hope so.  If you live in a murder-a-day place like I do the more the merrier.

I guess Im just not used to it.  Where Im at, for years and years I hardly ever saw a cop around, very rural, very remote....But now they are everywhere....

During Election year cops are everywhere.......my daughter is a Cop.

haha....let go Bill...My encounters with cops have been increasing of late due to their extra presence.   Not only have I gotten tickets for going 5 over the speed limit at 2:00 a.m. on a rural highway, but I was a passenger in a car whose driver parked too far from the curb while he ran into a laundromat.  A cop pulled up and started hassling ME because my friend (the driver ) parked too far away....

Im sure your daighter is a much cooler cop than the ones Ive been running into lately.

I didn't see as many in Pennsylvania as I did going through Delaware. I suspect that property tax collections are down with the housing bust so the government is just trying to replace missing revenue. :-)

Around here I haven't noticed any increase. Most of the time the only sheriff I see is the one that lives a mile or so down the road.

Cops are like women...Can't live with em...Can't live without em!  We bitch went we get a ticket (and I've gotten a few) but whos the first person you call when you really need help? It's the world we live in. They are necessary and not (a necessary evil)

As gas prices go up it costs more to keep the cruisers on the street. More tickets equals more revenue.

I'm told that here in Indiana they add a fuel surcharge to the fine for moving violations..

Come to the UK where cops are virtually extinct!

Our soft, liberal, lawless country is buckling under the strain of people doing as they please with no fear of any consequences! Official figures show that crime is falling - the simple fact is that crime is made as difficult to report for the ordinaty person as possible by the system so that the figures magically become acceptable. Statistics? always there to be violated!

Consider this my friends over the pond and answer truthfully - there are moves afoot to reduce house burglary as a NON CRIME here in the UK! Now, tell me honestly, over in the USA what would you do if a crackhead was forcing his way into your home where your wife and kids are sleeping to commit what in the UK could soon be considered a non crime? Honest answers please!

I am a veteran 19yrs cop and I will say this ; In all seriousness... I could tell you tales that would curl your toes from my experiences!

No only am I seeing a larger presence here in Denver, their violent tactics have been increasing. For example, a guy got drunk at a Rockies game. He stumbled out of the park into the arms of he cops who then smashed his face into the ground knocking out his front teeth. Thanks goodness for cellphone videos. The whole thing was caught on tape!

Peace,

If someone were to use force to gain entry to my house and my family were home, that someone would probably eat lead.  I will protect my family.
