I learned about this on the Alembic Musical Instruments Fanpage on Facebook yesterday. Looking around, there are many comments in other areas too, so I am sad to say this looks to be true.

Alan was much loved Club member, sharing his knowledge and wit. In addition to his service to his country, he was an accomplished chef and teacher. Alan will be missed.

Also saw it on facebook, very sad... :-(

Corresponded with him twice, and he seemed like a great guy. We had quite a few North Carolina things in common.

I also saw this on facebook earlier this evening (uk time).  It is very sad news. Alan was a very active member on this forum and always had something useful to say. We never met but, like Brother Paul, he felt like family whenever we exchanged messages.

Rest in peace Alan.

A darn shame.

I have shamelessly stolen his line "I don't want people to get from my table and say 'That meal was good'.  I want people to get from my table and say 'Life is good!'"

How sad.  IIRC, he had named his Alembic the "Burkha King" following his deployment in the mid-east.  Always tough to lose a member of the family.

That is probably the ONLY picture of "Post A Picture Playing Your Alembic" with a side arm. He sure made a statement.

I'm so sorry to hear this. We didn't always agree about everything (we were FB friends), but I will definitely miss him. A very good person and quite the Alembic enthusiast.

I enjoyed our meeting at an Alembic meet-up here in North Carolina many years ago.  And yes, a dear member of our community.  Sitting here for a while reflecting and remembering.

Such a sad passing. I pray he is at peace and the joys he cultivated in his life continue to radiate to his nearest and dearest.

pauldo

Warmest thoughts for his family and friends.

Sad news, best wishes to his family and friends...shine on, keep on shinin'....

I'm sorry to hear this. We had stayed in touch off and on through the years and occasionally popped over to each other's houses as we don't live that far apart. I'll miss him.
