This long documentary shows how tubes ( valves) were made.
 
Mullard has a very high rating among many tube fans

There is a rumour that amongst the disused and abandoned RAF/Army/Navy warehouses/stores areas in the UK there are hundreds if not thousands of these Mullard tubes stored away as they were used in all the RF equipment.
Would be a helluva barn find!!

Arguably the holy grail of vacuum tubes. Magic in old Marshalls and Voxes.

Hopefully they won't get tossed against the warehouse walls just to watch them shatter...
