Never played with the Rhythm Kings; but I did sit in with the Radio Kings in the mid 90's when they played a gig in Charlotte and their bass player had to return to Boston.

Just came across this and remembered this thread.  Maybe 1971?  Guild Starfire, I think (with a coiled cord!).  Would have been a few years before I learned about Alembic.  And it looks like I'm reading music.  Ha!  I developed my commanding stage presence early on.

A horn band in 1971; covers of Chicago, Ides of March, and BS&T?

JimmyJ

You are correct sir.  Also some Spirit, Jethro Tull, Ars Nova, and a bunch of original music that sounded a lot like the above.  Ha!
Mark, that is a most excellent picture!!

Mark wins!
Bonus points if your band played My Sharona.

I'm guessing that was high school and you had a gaggle of groupies for sure.

edwin

Jimmy, I didn't know you were a Starfire player!

Bonus points if your band played My Sharona.

My current band still does :-)

The Knack was a great band!!!  The songs were well crafted and always a little dirty: (...And she makes you want to scream, Wishing you could get inside her pants...). HA!!!  That guitar solo in My Sharona is insane!!!

Yea we did My Sharona. I'm thinking I was playing Let's Go by the cars here. We also had a great female singer so we managed to do some Pat Benatar,Joan Jett, and The Go Go's. Fun Times!

rustyg61

Our singer just emailed today that she wants to learn My Sharona!

Oh, the eighties and the mullets we had...

ps.: your guitarrist needs a haircut (at his chest)
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!
