Dagnabbit, I've been spelling the name of my Distillate bass incorrectly this whole time.  Truth is, I need eye glasses.

And while we're at it, is it pronounced dis-till-ATE (like the number 8), or dis-till-IT (like I want it)?

And on which of the 3 syllables does the accent fall?

I've heard more than one pronunciation and I've been curious for awhile...

cozmik_cowboy

I've always read it DIS-till-it.

I say it like Peter does.

Every day is a spelling bee here !

I always thought it was Di-STILL-it. Of course that may just be the Texas Twang pronounciation! LOL!

Dis-STILL-it is what my great-uncle the moonshiner used to do;  DIS-till-it of corn is what he produced

Isn't the purpose of an Alembic to diSTILL (refine) the sound waves from the strings & produce amazingly pure tones? So the bass would be the diSTILLer & the sound would be the DIStillit? :-) I bet your great-uncle had an alembic on his still!

All I know is, on two separate occasions I heard bass tones from afar  that sounded so intoxicating I just had to see what kind of bass was involved. You guessed it....

I'd love to try one out and compare it to my MK Sig Dlx....maybe at the next Nor. Cal. gathering! Hint, hint.

My first thoughts upon seeing the Distillate were, that bass has every modification I would ever want in the usual Alembic.

neyman

I've always said DIS-till-at

edwin

Well, that was no help. Both pronunciations were there.

peoplechipper

I pronounce it MINE...that bass, my cat(the lovely Emily) and my melody maker are the things I'd run into a burning house to save...Emily would be first of course, but dang if I don't love my Distillate...like my melody maker, every bass player who tries it wants to buy it from me, or get one...

sparechaynge

Ha, sorry Edwin. I only saw one and I was hoping some of the more grammar-minded folks here could sort it out....

The other dictionaries I looked in listed both too, so are they both acceptable pronunciations?
