Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!

Part of me says That is just wrong - part of me says Must....have....now......

That guitar is a Beast !

The must.... have.... now.....  GAS part of me is a constant challenge to control. I let the monster off the leash sometimes but have to call it home when it gets to wild .

jalevinemd

It's a Minarik. That company, in my opinion, is responsible for some of the most heinous guitar designs of the 20th century.

Heinous is one word to describe them.... they certainly are amongst the ugliest guitars I have ever seen. If they are not the ugliest, they will do until the ugliest comes along.

I have to give them credit for some of the inlay work though.....

Some of their stuff looked kinda cool, almost refrishingly original.  I guess I have become bored with strats, Teles, les pauls, sgs.  Some of you guys were talking about drunken idiots picking up your guitars between sets; well with one of those fangled axe's you could really do some damage with a mid body thrust or even an over the shoulder skull-chop!!

eligilam

Hmmmmmm...I'm not sure why, but that Medusa guitar looks pretty cool to me.  I'd like to get one and hang it next to my vintage '81 Clash of the Titans (the movie, not the concert) poster in my studio.

This looks more like an Alembic wannabe.
I got this update to Stanley Clarkes web site this morning.
www.stanleyclarke.com

This bass is very alembic looking with positioning and style of the controls, alembic psu socket and jack, body styling has echo's of alembic too.

Alembics are the best basses in the world.

Yes they are Hal.  I have no first hand knowledge of the guitars but I suspect the same is true for them.

I personally talked to Legendary bass builder Thoma Lieber, about that bass, which some people here are aware.

For one, I commented about those sharp sickle tail-end, were dangerous, and would stab my arms if I was playing in freestyle: pop, thump, and slap.

If the bass was not designed to support the FUNK, then it just get's the finger... I mean...fingers.

Some thanks from Stanley to Alembic.  I realize imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but Alembic is a small cloesly held business.  Now this copying is wrong wrong wrong!!!!!  At least Mr. Leiber and Mr. Clark should have given attribution to Alembic if they wanted to rip them off so blatantly!  It does not matter how talented either of them are.
