Alembic tie-tack

I found an archived thread from last year Two things I would like to see from Alembic. One of the suggestions being How about a sterling silver Alembic logo pin (ala vest pin or tie tack)?

I was looking for this when I attended a wedding back in October. Hadn't worn or owned a tie in well over 20 years so I bought a Garcia tie and figured my Alembic tie tack would be the perfect complement. Naturally I couldn't find it at the time but last week I was looking for something else and instead found my tie tack right where I had previously looked.

I think I have had this since the 80s but it could be the 70s. I ordered a few catalogs/t-shirts over the years and it also may have been sent to me when I had custom pickups made for my Quantum bass in 1988. I do know that it came from Alembic but don?t remember ordering it.

Does anyone else have one of these?

Realizing that the tie-tack may have come with a used Distillate bass I bought in 1983. The bass was only a few months old when I got it, the original owner bought it at Sam Ash in Huntington, NY.

One interesting thing about the Distillate I had was that it came with a black trapezoidal shaped case. Only one I have seen like it to date.

Was it a solid case? I would love to see a thread about Alembic cases used over the years.

here's one I have, it was a bonus when I bought a supercord

Yeah it would be great if Alembic made lapel pins especially in colour. I would wear mine with pride!
Maybe sold to those who own their products and hence registered with the company

The one that came with the supercord is nice.... much more refined design.

The trapezoidal case was definitely a solid case. Black with gray inside. The tolex on the one for my 78 Series I is the same color blue as the old F2-Bs.

I have mixed feeling about this, Although I would surely and proudly wear such a pin, I can imagine a fair amount of... persons buying them for cheap and sticking them in the headstocks of some el-cheapo chinese bolt-on bass in order to sell it overpriced at the evilbay... (As if there were not enough counterfeit ones and such...)

jcdlc72..that is why I suggested issueing only to Alembic owners, mind you anyone who knows basses should be able to detect a lemon just by looking at the pics
