Hey everyone,
I'm still in high school and have no way to get the cash required for one of these things. I've actually been watching the forum for a while now, but never became a member as I had no experiences with Alembics, with the exception of playing one at a store once. However, I toured the factory a few days ago (which was incredible) and, having vowed to get an Alembic someday, my fate is sealed, so I figure that's close enough.

Hi - I waited about 15 years for my first one after seeing Mark King with his, it was worth the wait though.I did go to the factory about 10 years ago but didn't get to go around it.

Hi Raffy; welcome to the group.  Hanging around here you should pickup a good education about Alembics, music and even a little about life in general!

Raffy, welcome.  It's great that you are aware of and interested in the best so early on.  I waited 30 years to get an Alembic.  I agree with Kevin that it is worth the wait.  However, I don't recommend it.  Most used Alembics are not out of reach, financially.  Good luck to you in getting one.

When I played in high school and college I dreamed of having the resources to get an Alembic.  It has been almost 20 years and I must tell you, it IS worth the wait.  Look for used Alembics - they are out there from time to time and the best way to take the plunge without emptying your wallet.

Just checking in to welcome you to the club! I also want to advise you - like several others did before - to keep an eye on the secondhand market, there's great deals to be found there. Alembic has quite a unique position when it comes to used high-end / boutique instruments, it's without any doubt a strong buyers' market.

Good luck!

Raffy,
If I were you, I would set my sights on an Alembic before you get tied up with house payments, a wife and children and all the other trappings of adulthood.  You can probably afford one better now than later, when you have other forces vying for your paycheck.  It's what I did, and my Series I will be 24 years old on November 6th.  Good luck.  You won't regret it...

Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope to get one of the short scales, like an sc standard or deluxe. I think it is hands down the coolest model.
