Dead Enough, featuring your's truly and Wolf (Sonicus) will be playing next Friday, May 3rd, at The Bistro in Hayward.  We played on April 17th at Baltic Kiss in Pt. Richmond.  Here's a video from that gig:  "Come Together>West L.A. Fadeaway>Come Together".   More videos from the gig are up on our website: DeadEnoughBand.com.

Dead Enough will be playing a free gig at The Art House in Berkley tonight, celebrating the 80th birthday of the venue's owner/manager, Harold Adler.  I'll also be sitting on some tunes with the opening band, South Dock, on my Veillette Gryphon (sort of a cross between a Mandolin and a 12 string guitar.  Sounds like a Mando on steroids)

I would love to try one of those, Bill TGO. My experience with high-strung guitars hasn't been positive, but the ultra-short-scale of your Gryphon might be just the ticket.

Y'all break a string, and Many Happy Returns to the venue's keeper there. It's good to have places to play.

Thanks, Greg.   The Gryphon has an 18.5 inch scale.  It is tuned like a regular guitar capoed at the 10th fret, D to D.  The strings are double courses, like a Mandolin, as opposed to octave pairs, like on a 12 string guitar.   When I first got it, I brought it up to the San Rafael annual guitar show where my buddy had a booth.  I was showing to him when David Grisman comes walking down the aisle.  My buddy knew Grisman, introduced us, and I showed him the Gryphon.  As David was checking it out, I told him it was so guitar players like me could pretend we knew what he was doing!  It's really a lot of fun to play and great when there are already plenty of guitar players at the jam.

Here's Eyes of the World from our last gig.  It was a lot of fun with the sax player sitting in!

Thanks, Rob!

We'll be playing this Saturday, 12/21/24, on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, 1:00 -5:30 p.m.   Telegraph Avenue is closed to traffic for several blocks with a couple of hundred arts and crafts vendors.  Keeping fingers crossed for dry weather!
