Since the new forum now has one continuous folder instead of archiving the old threads in sub-folders I decided to make one thread for CRYPTICAL gigs going forward to help keep the clutter to a minimum.

Just back from a couple of weeks surrounded by the peace, quiet and natural beauty of Alaska so this announcement is late but we are playing tomorrow night in the North Bay. Been a couple of years since CRYPTICAL last played the Hopmonk Tavern and we are excited to head back there. Proceeds from the raffle at tomorrow's gig will benefit local charities. We always kick back to the Rex Foundation, too. Howard Danchik will once again be running FOH for us. Expect lots of dancing and merriment and a big helping of classic Grateful Dead tunes.

Finally a bit of sun in the Bay Area forecast and just in time for the latest CRYPTICAL gigs. Thursday we will be in Felton and Saturday in Novato. After all the recent rain, mudslides, falling trees and general havoc on the roads into the Santa Cruz mountains I was worried about getting to the gig in Felton but now it looks like the roads down there should be fine.

Always nice to see some familiar faces if any of the local Alembicians can make it. If you can't and have friends in the Santa Cruz or Novato/North Bay area that might be interested in coming please let them know.

I haven't used my F2B in a long time but after its recent trip to the mothership for repair and refurbishing I am looking forward to breaking it out for one or both of the gigs. We will once again be joined by Dave Hebert and Sunshine Becker.

peace,
Stephen

Hello Stephen , I am sorry that I missed the show . I will keep my eyes open and  try and see you playing soon .

Wolf

StephenR

Hey Wolf, show went well and we got a good turnout despite it being a Thursday. Would have been nice to see you (one more show coming up tomorrow in Novato) but will definitely let you know next time we play locally. Kind of in the future at this point but CRYPTICAL will be at the Marin County Fair on the fourth of July. Looks like they have a "summer of love" theme going this year but so far no details at all. Had the flu when Easy Wind was in Hayward a couple of weeks ago so maybe next time.

#4
CRYPTICAL has been invited to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the "Summer of Love" at the Marin County Fair on the 4th of July with a set of Grateful Dead music from 1967. We will be playing on the Three Twins Stage from 6-7 PM and are very much looking forward to taking a trip in the time machine back to one of the primal Dead years. Howard Danchik will once again be taking care of FOH duties for us.

Stu Allen - guitar

Barry Erde - guitar

Mitch Stein - keyboards

Stephen Ramirez - bass

John Hanrahan - drums

The Sons of Champlin are on the main stage at 3. At 7:30 Flo and Eddie and the Turtles will be on the main stage closing out this year's festival along with a number of other 60s pop artists. Of course there will be fireworks and also 60s themed exhibits, posters etc. Musical performances are all free with admission to the fair, though, there is also a paid reserved seating option for the main stage.

If you want to come and join the party...

Fair info, directions etc.

Time for another CRYPTICAL gig. Join us as we celebrate the first year of legal cannabis in California with a 420 Dance Party at Club Fox in Redwood City. As always looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. Psyched that Stu is able to make this one and we will be also welcoming Jay Lane to the extended CRYPTICAL family. FOH duties will be handled by Howard Danchik. We plan to break out a couple of rarely played Dead tunes and one that I believe was never performed live.

Thanks David!

One of these days my wife and I will be coming to Asheville to visit my brother, who has a house in Hendersonville, and one of my oldest friends from high school who plays locally with Phuncle Sam. Would be nice to have a very-mini Alembic gathering while in town if you are up for it.

I sat in once with Phuncle Sam when their bass player was ill about ten years ago.  One of our club members, James, plays guitar with them; and I jammed with David, their keyboard player, here at the house once.

And yes; would love to get together when you're over this way!

StephenR

Cool. I am friends with Bill Evans, the lead guitar player. We grew up together, played in our first band(s) together and saw our first Dead show together 6/21/69. Had no idea another club member plays with them.
