I would think that they'd be perfect in a speed metal band.

And you sir, would be absolutely right!  ;D

Too bad you are in Brazil.  I am in a tight financial situation and rarely have a gig that requires my 800RB.  She is collecting dust with my Mesa 1x15 and Hartke 2x10. . .  :'(

Pretty much rely on my Carvin MB15 for shows these days, plenty of volume for what I am doing and on occasion I will couple the Mesa cab with it and get a little more air moving.  For the right price I would let her go, hate to think what shipping to Brazil would cost.

Too bad indeed since this copy has been proven a bit unreliable, and the extra headroom from the 800 would be great for me, pity they are waaay overpriced around here. I hope your financial situation improves without you havint to part ways with your gear. Cheers

Recent pic of me playing my 5-string Europa "Royale" for an late afternoon - early evening outdoor event at a private country club north of Phoenix.

It was win/win that night: if the music wasn't cuttin' it, those in attendance could still enjoy the view - which is breathtaking from the patio where we played.

There is absolutely nothing like a mid-April evening in AZ - the desert is in bloom, there's usually a slight breeze and, at least that night, there was a full moon.

All of that, coupled with Alembic tone and playability made for an exceptional playing experience - I even got to use the side LED's after the sun went down!

All gigs should be like that.

Man, that's nice!  :)

Was "Royale" the first Alembic to have a maple fingerboard?

Hi everybody,

I've been fairly busy gigging recently, here are some snaps with my series 1!
I've also got a new youtube video out, I hope you enjoy it! It's with this series 1! It's a bass cover of Bali Run by Fourplay!

Cheers everybody

Ah, "Blanca"... yes, I remember that one now.  :)

"On Alembic basses and guitars, there are only a handful of examples, perhaps a dozen, with Maple fingerboards. This of course may change in the future, but for now it's a rare bird indeed."

I knew there weren't many.  ;)

Nice pics, George. I should really get someone to take some action-pics of me and my Alembics sometime... trouble is, they look pretty much just like the still-shots.  ;D

Re: maple fingerboard - no "Royale" was not the first, "Blanca" preceded her and was partially her inspiration. However, "Royale" may be the first Europa model with a maple board.

Her unique bright ringing tone and the simplicity of the Europa electronics are perfect for multitasking between rock, pop, funk, country and disco (all of which we played that night). I spec'd a Fat Boy for the bridge PU, a comfort-taper neck profile and gold-plated hardware. Other than those things (and the maple board), she's a straight Europa model.

Well...here's my latest pic, participating on an Music/Art project running while the world's biggest Exhibition of modern art (so called "documenta") takes place in my home town Kassel, Germany. Sounds recorded in a factory are mixed with a brass section, a Greek Bouzoki, a Saz from Turkey, an electric guitar and of course the Spyder!

Dancing with my girl, 'Genevieve', in central New Jersey, USA, about a half-mile west of the Atlantic Ocean for this gig. We celebrated our 13th anniversary together just a few months ago...my how time flies.....
Correction: there is 'much' money to be made above the fifth fret....

Here are some you tube clips from that gig some on mobile and some using my Canon 5D slr so the quality varies.
