Hey,

I've just finished laying down all my tracks on my band's upcoming cd and my Alembic performed like a true champion.  My original idea was to use all of my basses (Sadowsky, Lakland, Stingray fretless along with my Alembic), but once I got a listen to the Series I electronics in this environment, it made no sense to use anything but the Alembic.  I'm going straight from the DS-5R into two tracks in the board and the engineer was very pleased with the tone I achieved.  I'm very excited to hear what final product ends up sounding like.

It could be cool if you post some drum n' bass tracks here for our enjoyment.

I agree. You should see the smile on the engineer's face when I gave him the signal out of the Orion through Demeter tube pre. He just managed to mumble beautifull.

I've recorded in the past by running a Series I out of a DS-5 in stereo using a countryman direct box for each pickup output directly into the board.  It was a really nice experience.  My bass sounded awesome.

Drums setup and check - 3 hours
Bass setup and check -  about 2 minutes

See?  If you spend enough time in the studio, an Alembic pays for itself.  Another excuse for me to keep buying them...

I was curious if any Alembic owner uses an Alembic pre-amp also with recording. I was planning to do so very soon in order to get the full sound features of the tubes as well as the SF-2.

Or is that a redundant approach for recording? Please, let me know what you think.

I don't think it is redundant.  I used my F-1X with my SF-2 on my band's recent demo recordings.

These basses seem to be the greatest direct recording instruments on the planet...we got usable bass sounds so easily in minutes with my buddy's setup.  Most remarkable.
