What guitar did you get?

Jazzyvee, the one under the thread "Wish I played guitar", the burl maple custom guitar.  :)

Hey Rob, so you bought the custom with the insane Burl Maple top?  WOOHOO!   Absolutely gorgeous!  Enjoy, I know you will!

Yes, Bill, very excited about it, looking forward to checking it out! I have to read up on how to use an onboard effect loop.   Thanks! Rob

Personally, I don't use OBEL.  I even had my custom Further built without it.  I prefer to go wireless.  I accomplish essentially the same effect as the OBEL by leaving my guitar volume on "10" and placing a volume pedal last in my effects chain.  That way my pedals always see the same level signal, the raison d'etre for the OBEL.    I really like that your new guitar has a body shape similar to Alembic's standard medium scale guitar (which a slightly elongated upper horn) paired with the longer 25.5" scale length.

Nice approach, Bill.  From what I read I'll be needing a junction box for the OBEL, so your approach may be a nice option. :)

You don't need a HubBub or similar junction box.    The HubBub allows you to use the OBEL or completely bypass it and have the guitar go straight to the amp.  Your new Alembic (as most Alembics) already has an OBEL on/off switch on the guitar.   The only advantage of the junction box is that your two guitar cables (signal & OBEL) initially go to the same location - the junction box.  Then cables go from the junction box to the amp and to the pedal board.  Without the box, one of your cables goes to your amp and the other to your pedal board.  It seems to me, you can accomplish the same thing, with fewer but longer cables, by taping your guitar and OBEL cables together where you would put the junction box and having long enough cables to then continue to the amp and the pedal board.  Not really much of an advantage.  IMHO, the HubBub/junction box is a solution looking for a problem that doesn't really exist.

Ah, I see, that's great!  Thanks for the explanation, Bill!  As usual, Alembic thinks of everything :)
