Thanks Val. I think I vaguely remember reading that you'd left now that you've reminded me. Doh! Yet another senior moment I guess!

Part of me is hoping nobody bites....but we'll see.

Sorry Bill, I don't have any email from you to answer. I ran the specs through the Custom Quote Generator and the only option that isn't on there is the pistol grip. Add $500 to the total for the pistol grip carving.

Let me know if you need something else.

Hi Mica

Many thanks for the reply. I've apparently been having some trouble with my e-mail recently so that could be the problem, my e-mail may not have reached you. I'll check the quote generator - I thought the dummy humcanceller also wasn't on there but I'll check again.

Hi Ken......I know, I know. It still may not happen yet, but I really don't see what options I have. Extremely uncomfortable to play standing up (my left shoulder/clavicle has also taken a considerable turn for the worse this week), uncomfortable to play sitting down. I don't really want to have to get into the whole stand thing.....so what do I do?

I'll just have to see how things go, and whether anyone bites. You know, things would've been a whole lot easier if my favourite Alembic shape had been the Essence....

bigbadbill

Hi again Mica, I've just checked and the humcanceller isn't on there. Can I ask how much that is as an option?

Thanks!
Shaun

My link in post 4424 has all the features in your bass that are on the quote generator entered. Add $250 for a humX pickup.

bigbadbill

Hi Mica, many thanks for your reply. I checked the post 4424 - incredibly helpful, thanks! - but just wasn't sure about the humcanceller. Thanks for clearing that up.

I've just been playing my beloved bass (sat down , and briefly) and I can honestly say I am so torn...I love it to bits. It's a beautiful, beautiful work of art.

bigbadbill

Well, I'm not sure yet, but I think the madness may have passed. After playing my bass for the first time in a while yesterday I'm trying to work out more ways of making it more comfortable to play sitting down; I've given up on the whole standing thing entirely.

So, for the moment at least, it looks like I may be keeping it....although I may still be open to ridiculous offers

Phew. Sorne-Raama shall hopefully fly on in my hands....

Shaun,

Is the reason it's uncomfortable to play seated because of the Triple-O cutout?

If your back can handle playing seated, how about finding some foam to rest it on, or even custom cutting a piece of foam to sort of sit in the cutout and take the pressure off your leg?

You've probably tried all this, but I can't remember all the details from the back thread awhile back....

Hi Toby,

Yep, that's correct (have to say the upper cutout isn't fabulous either!). I've tried various versions of this previously but haven't been satisfied. However that's what I'm now working on. If I can get the right material then I'll be a happy man. Ironically the most successful thing I've used so far was an old t-shirt folded up small!

bigbadbill

Hmm, due to possibly having found another bass that suits me down to the ground (made by a friend of mine and weighing no more than 8 pounds), this may...I repeat may...be up for sale again soon.  Depends if I can swing the cash to get the other and keep this. If anyone is provisionally interested let me know. It'd be maybe ?500 cheaper than I originally quoted, say ?2.5k UK, if I decided to let it go.

jacko

If it had been a 5 I'd have ripped your arms off for it sean. That walnut top is exactly what I'm planning for my next custom (in a couple of years). best of luck with it .

Cheers Graeme! I have to say I still would prefer not to sell it, but it depends what I can swing financially as I said above.

You should see the walnut in person, it looks twice as good. It's like looking through different layers; almost holographic. Its the nicest piece of walnut I've ever seen in the flesh by a long, long, long way.

Glad you enjoyed Stanley by the way.

bigbadbill

Ok, it's staying. For ever, hopefully. I'm shifting something else instead.
