I am helping a friend sell his Alembic Series One, which he has owned since he bought it from O'Donnell Music in Nashville in 1976.  I've played the instrument and checked it out and it all works well and with the exception of some light scratches on the brass back plates and pickup wear (not uncommon with a bass this age).  Case is pretty rough, but that's what they're for.  (BTW, I have an Anvil Road Case for an Alembic that I will be happy to sell with my friend's bass.)  Buyer pays shipping and insurance.

The very first Alembic bass I ever played was right there in Nashville, Tennessee. I wonder... [really long shot] does that fella' happen to have an early 90's Distillate 5-string too? 

That's a very nice bass, love the older Series basses! 

I'd first first want to know if it has had the electronics upgrade which ensures that the instrument will be quite. If not, it decreases the value significantly for me unless the seller can honestly state that it's extremely quite with no RF noise in a variety of environments including a studio and several live settings. I've got several Series 1 basses. One will likely never need the upgrade while another is quite at home but take it to place where you would gig and it hums it's own tunes. The Upgrade I believe cost $750-$1,250,

[/size]The tops I've paid for my series 1 basses is $4,000. That's a short scale with SC body in Koa that was in perfect condition. My standard point was $3600. But again, it all depends on how much you want it and what it's worth to you,[size=78%]
