The electronics upgrade is described  here. Most cases get new pickups.  
 
Converting to Series II is actually quite a big task. Not only does it use the 2 most expensive pots we order (master volume and CVQ), it's a tedious bit of work. to boot. Count on an additional $700 or so.

Thank you. You wrote that the upgrading costs are if easy $750 if not $1500. If am going to buy this bass when shall it be clear is it easy or hard? You know, just to be able to calculate the final price. Regarding the Series II modification, I asked it because once I almost bought one in London UK but the neck pick up on that piece was so close to the neck that I simply couldn't play my style on it and sadly for that reason I had to leave it there. On this one the distance looks fine.

We don't know until we are in the thick of the upgrade if it's going to be easy or hard. Older ones tend to be on the hard end of the spectrum.  
 
This bass has the bass pickup farther away from the fingerboard than most basses this age.

I like the bass and would love to be able make you an offer but before doing that I need to see where shall I end up with total costs. I need to get a power supply also as your wrote you do not have it. May I ask you what happened to the one that belonged to this bass? I wanted to buy a Series II but because your bass is at Alembic right now it seems a good idea to modify this one. As far as I see the extra costs can go up to $ 2000. If anyone buys this bass and is looking for a Blue Box power supply and Alembic 5 Pin cable, I have a set for $300. Tested at Alembic, all works great. I changed my mind about getting a Series instrument and I'm getting a Brown Bass instead.

Hello! I was just down to the factory and played this bass for a few minutes. Mica asked if this one played well. I like this bass. It has character and vibe. Pretty standard feel for this era of basses. Great weight balance too. fast neck. slapped well. Best of luck to whoever gets this one.
