Woo-Hoo!  Congrats, Paul, your project is looking great!
 
It looks like you've got an especially pretty fingerboard -with the subtle streaking and all- and your body core looks great as well.  It's a really cool combination... the first time I can recall seeing Koa for accent laminates.  And it WILL look much cooler with the finish on it, have no doubt.  The Flame Maple looks a lot less exciting in the unfinished stage.

As I compare these side views with the May 30 pics above I definately see the sapwood being incorporated in the inner edges meeting the neck.

Paul I saw a post of yours regarding shipping in the section you want other members staying out of.
 
I have my instruments insured through Heritage, a company that specializes in instruments.  If you're counting on your homeowners policy to cover it, I recommend you make 100% sure they'll cover it.  As I understand it, if you play professionally at all, most companies WILL NOT cover it under homeowners policies.
 
If you have any interest, you could call toll free at 1 800 289 8837 (eastern standard time), and ask for Matt Hershman.  They have good rates, and cover just about everything will a few exceptions (including damage from rodents, insects, nuclear incidents, war, and damage/theft from/by government entities.
 
Just sharing this with you in case you're interested; I don't care if you get it or not, I'm not pushing it on you, and I won't bring it up again.

It is absolutely true that most homeowner's insurance does not cover musical equipment, and if it does the policies tend to be subject to so many exceptions that they are nearly worthless.  For instance, many policies provide that if you use your gear on a paying gig - even once - it is considered to be business equipment and thus excluded.
 
I insure my gear through Heritage as well, and recommend them very highly.  Their policies insure against all kinds of loss...accidental damage, theft, shipping damage, etc. When I snapped the headstock off of my brand-new Series II they paid me full value for the instrument within a few weeks instead of insisting upon a repair.  You can read about the whole sad story, and more about Heritage, here: http://club.alembicguitars.net/Images/393/28504.html
 
Bottom line: we all need to make sure that our gear is fully insured!

Your standard Home-Owners won't cover it for very much but most will allow you can take out a rider for the intruments just like on Jewelry.  
 
You may have to get the instrument(s) appraised unless you purchased them new then you should be able to use your receipt for proof of value.
 
But as Steve said they probably won't let you take out the rider if they are used proffesionaly.

This is going to be an absolutely amazing bass, I can't wait to see it completed.  What island do you live on? The reason I ask is I visit hawaii once a year or so to see my brother in law, he lives in Kailua.

So if I get a government job I can steal all your guys' basses?!

I've got a government job (well, not a civilian, but government no less) - my problem (if one can call it that) is I keep buying more!  Especially Alembics!

I live on the Big Island of Hawaii in Hilo. We have a Kailua-Kona on the other side of this island but your b-i-l probably lives in Kailua, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. That is where Waikiki is which is on the other side of the island from Kailua but a very beautiful place indeed.

Yes, he lives on Oahu. Next time we go there we hope to go spend a week or so on the big island, I've been on Oahu and Maui but never there, and I hear it's breathtaking!  There's a golf course or  two there that I've seen pictures of that I just have to see
