Thank you, Adriaan, for the post and the visuals. That's a real artistic and clever looking tailpiece. Nothing is late in this regard.

Thanks for the gingered push!! The tail piece is being created into a model at this time. There will probably be something new to see in a few days to weeks. I, too, can hardly wait.

Any sign of progress? Anyone cought any fish...ah...birds or tailpieces?

I'd forgotten all about this one!  That is so terribly cool.  The neck is gi-huge-ic!

David and I have been talking on the phone, but I haven't updated the Club yet. Here's a picture of the tailpiece yesterday:

  And today it's mounted on the bass for testing the custom wound strings:

  So we're still hashing out the finish on the tailpiece. It will be goldplated along with the rest of the hardware, but instead of a big shiny mirror, we are thinking of either a hammered or engraved design. Also, I think a bevelled edge would look cool. Whatever we do, we want to get the decision made soon so this bass can be born!

That tailpiece is not at all what I expected- and yet I totally dig it.
