Stage 1 of the rub out completed:

I know the strings arrived today, so things should be hopping soon!

dannobasso

Thank you kindly dear lady!  Methinks twould be prudent to order, say thrice or quaternary the amount of string sets for the futures of thrashing that twill occur?

By gum shes a biggin' by thundah!
A new day dawns for us all and a fresh breeze follows after to cleanse the anxiety and musty air of anticipation.
Huzzah! And may the fervent hopping proceed as the masters intend.
(take all the time needed for perfection to be satisfied)

You know I kind of like the flat black.

Should look great once it is all shined up.

Funny, I glanced at that and for just a second thought another maple fingerboard?  ;)

Beautiful bass, danno!

Play it in thunderously good health!

Actually I think it's a Maple board behind the tape... painted black of course :-)

Ebony is the wood for me,
Dark frettin is my way you see,
Black splendor so far and wide,
Keep your maple I'm stickin' to the deep black side!

Mr. Haney would be proud.
Spending time adjusting the children to the spring climate. Wondering if I should go broke changing strings?

You know Danno I never thought of the recurring cost of all of those basses and to think you keep adding more strings to them.

Keith

Well Keith, Since I never contributed my 23 chromosomes to make copies of meself, sniff, these are my children. But I could be brought up on neglect charged in the area of polished brass and fresh roundwounds on them all. I suppose this last one was like my biological clock was ticking.  I'm pushing 50 and never had a 10 string!. What will the forum people think? Oh the shame of it all.......

God bless you parents. After dealing with the products of bad ones for 10 years, I'll pass on the adventure. So guys give your spouses a hug and renew your affections, then go play your Santa Rosa children. Oh yeah, and quality time with your real kids of course.

dannobasso

I'm FREE from the behaviorally challenged students for a week! Not knocking kids but whew it has been a reflective time. So in this departure from the dysfunctional I shall exercise at the gym, qigong prepare my taxes and walk a great deal. Also on the menu, sound for church service and rehearsal and of course playing my beloved basses and guitars. Keith, I may break out some string sets and go to town on a few basses. Mica we may have to place another order like the last one. Ah commerce!

So whatever your faith and belief, enjoy this remarkable time of the year, reaffirm your spirit, refresh, renew, revive and remain open to inspiration and the expression of your gifts to others.

I may be going to WDHA tonight to debut some new material with our singer, so a beard dying is in order. Blue black I think.

And in closing, I wait patiently and graciously and revel in the good works that The Wickersham family has created for us all.

While searching for a fulltime gig, I sometimes work as a subsitute teacher; as such I've had a few days of what this district calls inclusionary classes - I gots to say, Danno, there are few people I respect more than those who can take that on a daily basis!  Enjoy the break.

(Ooops - that's kinda close to the new anti-hijacking rule, isn't it? So, any idea what that thing's gonna weigh?)

Not at all hijacked imho. The national average is 5 years for burnout with BD kids. ( my situation is self contained, all subjects all day grades 9-12) I've got ten in right now and would love to make the change to MD or mild autistic. As an aside no one wants to take over my class. No one. If anyone wonders why I order these basses every few years. its functional payback to myself as a reward for not becoming a victim of spontaneous combustion! They truly are a blessing. The instruments I mean, not the students.

I've got a close friend from college who teaches a similar group of kids.  He loves his work, but the strain is pretty rough on him.  He spends a lot of time lifting weights, and listening to metal/hardcore punk.  Maybe something about the profession lends itself those sorts of pleasures.

/Damn, I'm already breaking the new rules, so let's bring this around.  Are you going to go with the new style of black hardware on this custom, as shown in the current FTC?  Best wishes for health and happiness.

dannobasso

I'm used to the gold, brass. Mica suggested chrome and we haven't finalized that yet if the mothership wishes. Black would be cool. I really like the looks of the MM stealth line. We shall see. We have nothing but time. I often tell my students that the idea of their toughness really needs to be tested in a pit at a Lamb of God show. Try moshing with your pants below your glutes.

Danno,my vote is on black. I don't usually butt in on someone else's dream however this one is just screaming for it. As you own several Alembics, gold plated or brass has about the same contrast against the black. Looks kind of regal. Chrome. although special to us because of the defacto brass, has no impact on the layman. Oh it's just chrome I guess he couldn't afford the gold delux hardware. oie vay if they only knew the cost for what views as plain jane! Black is so high tech and stealthy. Just my two cents worth. It's going to be killer regardless. You going to be able to make it to the Phil Jones Bass bash?
